SET OUT IN to the Lapland wilderness at the controls of your own snowmobile, on a three-night expedition that will see you explore the Arctic wilderness of three Scandinavian countries, Finland, Sweden and Norway, staying in wilderness cabins in all three countries. The rest of your seven-night holiday will be spent at the Davvi Arctic lodge in Karesuando, where you can join a range of optional activities.

Departures: From Bristol, Gatwick & Manchester
Dates: January 2010 to March 2010

7 Night Itinerary:

Day 1

You fly around 0940 on a Saturday from Gatwick to Tromsų in Norway, arriving approx. 1420, followed by a scenic four-hour transfer our hotel, the Davvi Arctic Lodge in Karesuando in Northern Finland, on the edge Europe's last great wilderness. After checking in, it is time to be provided with your eluded all-in-one thermal suits and boots, temperatures here can fall as low as -35C and fur thermal suit and boots are an essential part of your short break package. Please note at hats, scarves and gloves are also necessary but are not included. Remember to pack some for everyone! You have the rest of the evening to enjoy dinner and relax.

Day 2

After breakfast, you take control of the snowmobile which will be your mode of transport for the next few days. You cross the border into Sweden before stopping for a simple lunch, pressing on afterwards until you arrive, in the late afternoon at the wilderness cabin where you will spend the night. Please note that wilderness cabins are, by their very nature, basic. That is the essence of the experience. There is no electricity or running water. Facilities are basic, with bunk beds and an outside toilet. Light is provided by candles. You must be prepared to share the cabin with other members of your group. As a group, you all help cook supper on the cabin's wood-burning stove before turning in for the night, using the sleeping bags you have carried with you on your expedition.

Day 3

A new day and a new country beckons. After helping prepare breakfast, you resume your great snowmobile adventure, crossing the arm of Finland before arriving in Norway, stopping for a simple lunch en route. In the late afternoon you will arrive at your Norwegian wilderness cabin, where similar conditions prevail. Once again, you help cook supper on the cabin's wood-burning stove before turning in, in sleeping bags.

Day 4

After helping to prepare breakfast, cross the border once more, this time journeying deep into Finland, stopping for a simple lunch. Late afternoon will see you arrive at your third and final wilderness cabin. Once again, you help cook supper on the cabin's wood-burning stove before turning in for the night in sleeping bags.

Day 5

The warmth of the Dawi Arctic Lodge is your goal as, after helping to prepare breakfast, you set off on the final leg of your great adventure, hopefully arriving back at your hotel in time for lunch, followed by a relaxing free afternoon before dinner.

Day 6 & 7

You enjoy the comforts of the Davvi Arctic Lodge on a full-board basis, with the freedom to explore the local area or to join in some of our optional excursions. What about visiting a Sami museum in a nearby village? Fancying having a cross country skiing lesson along some of the most spectacular tracks in this part of Lapland? Or perhaps you would like to try your hand at a Reindeer Camp Experience? During the evenings you will perhaps want to set out on an optional safari in the hope of witnessing the Northern Lights.

Day 8

You set off at around 0200 on the return transfer to Tromsų, where your flight departs at 0630, returning you to Gatwick at 0910.

Important:

PLEASE NOTE: One person per snowmobile. Due to the distances covered and local weather conditions we cannot guarantee crossing all borders.
