Night-time safaris in the Finnish fells, a journey through the spectacular Norwegian fjords... and the Davvi Arctic Lodge

ON THIS UNIQUE two-centre break, connected by the famous Northern Lights Route, you will experience the Arctic city of Tromsų, gateway of Polar expeditions, and journey through the spectacular scenery of the majestic Arctic Fjords before climbing onto the plateau of Finmark and journeying deep inside the Arctic Circle to your hotel in True Lapland. And the highlight of your break will be the two occasions when you set off beneath the Arctic night sky in the hope of encountering the fabled aurora borealis, or Northern Lights. We cannot guarantee you'll see this spectacular natural phenomenon, of course, but you'll certainly have every chance of an unforgettable encounter.

4 Night Itinerary:

Day 1

Your flight leaves Gatwick around 2000 in the evening, arriving in Tromsų at approximately 0040, followed by a swift transfer to your hotel in Troms0.

Day 2

After a breakfast, you will leave Tromsų at approx 0830, travelling along the official Northern Lights Route, as designated by the governments of Norway, Finland and Sweden. After travelling parallel with the Arctic fjords for approx two hours, you will leave the lowlands and start a steep climb towards the Lyngen Alps and the plateau of Finmark. The fishing village of Skibotn marks the point of assent. Here you will make a brief stop and there maybe an opportunity to visit the Northern Lights Observatory, staffed by the University of Tromsų (dependent on availability of a resident researcher to give a guided tour).

You will arrive at the Davvi Arctic Lodge at approx 1500 where, after check-in, you will be provided with your included all-in-one thermal suits and boots. Please note that hats, scarves and gloves are also necessary but are not included. After an early dinner, you set out either on a Snowmobile (2 sharing) Northern Lights Safari or a Husky Sled Northern Lights Safari (2 sharing), both lasting approx. two hours, before returning to the hotel.

Day 3

After breakfast, you set off on a Reindeer Camp Experience (duration three hours) learning about reindeer herding and how to lasso a reindeer, followed by a reindeer sleigh safari. You will return to the Davvi Arctic Lodge for a warming lunch before venturing out again on a Snowshoe Expedition, lasting around two hours. After dinner, it is time for the second of your Northern Lights safaris beneath the Arctic night skies, whichever one you did not join the previous evening.

Day 4

After breakfast, you make the return journey toTromsų, arriving around U30, when you will set off on a short walking tour of the city. You also visit the Polaria museum and aquarium. Your hotel is the three-star Clarion Collection Hotel With, by the waterside, where you'll enjoy dinner. You may decide to venture into town (walking distance). Or you may decide to upgrade to another of our hotels, where you can have dinner (at extra cost) or immerse yourself in Tromsų's nightlife.

Day 5

You check out from your hotel early at 0530 for your 0630 return flight to the UK, arriving at around 0910.
