Pelkosenniemi is where the local children attend school and where the nearest medical clinic is located whilst the nearest hospital is located in Kemijärvi. Kemijärvi also has a railway station.
Pyhätunturi is around 145 kilometres from the capital of Finnish Lapland, Rovaniemi. Rovaniemi has an international airport and using the Ski Bus from the airport to Pyhä via Luosto, will take just under two hours.
